Community Development Officer

The Conductor is an entrepreneurial support organization that aims to empower and support entrepreneurs through innovative community programming. The Community Development Officer serves as a community activator that connects rural entrepreneurs with local resources and leaders. Examples of programming include small business workshops, networking activities, pitch contests, and educational forums. The Community Development Officer will work with local community organizations to identify experts in the field of entrepreneurship and business growth, and then coordinate the logistics to host the programming. No knowledge of entrepreneurship is necessary, although an interest in startups is a plus.

The Community Development Officer will have a two county service area in the Central Arkansas region. Participating counties include: Pope, Yell, Johnson, Logan, Pulaski, Lonoke, White, Van Buren, Cleburne, White, and Conway.

Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinate and implement regional programming that supports entrepreneurship and innovation ( e.g. Networking events, workshops, pitch contests, panel discussions etc.).

  • Build trust and relationships with local entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial service providers.

  • Event planning.

  • Create partnerships to serve local entrepreneurs needs.

  • Update social media with photos and spotlights of events and entrepreneurs.

  • Participate in monthly Community Development Officer training in Conway, Arkansas.

  • Flexible

  • Familiar with Google Docs, Slack, Email, Social Media

Work Schedule:

  • Part-time, flexible schedule

  • Occasional evenings

  • May include occasional travel
