Youth Maker Monday: CAD Creations
Sign up for the Conductor’s first Youth Maker Monday of 2018 at UCA’s Makerspace! Our first youth workshop of 2018 is here, and you won’t want to miss it! You will be creating your own design using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software! CAD is a program that allows you to develop specifications and drawings to transform that initial idea into reality. CAD is used by skilled technicians to draft designs for nearly anything that is manufactured or constructed. Jason, our master maker, will be giving a detailed tutorial of CAD and will be able to provide hands-on instruction to help you use CAD to create your own design. Once you’ve created your design you will bring it to reality by laser cutting into wood using our state-of-the-art laser machine. You will have your own creation to customize and decorate, making it a one-of-a-kind work of art. We will have paint, wood stain, markers, and wood burners to help you decorate your creation.
Creation will need to be the size of 6”x6” or smaller so that everyone is able to laser cut their creation.
Examples of what you can create: Two-arm fidget spinner, three-arm fidget spinner, ornament, coaster, bookmarks, bag tag, cell phone stand, etc. The possibilities are endless.
Who can attend: Youth - Ages 8-15
