Do you have a great business idea? Want to win a cash prize? Join us for a pitch competition with $1,000 worth of prizes! The competition will be in McCastlain Ballroom at UCA. Doors will open at 1:40 p.m. and the competition will begin at 2:00 p.m. Come pitch your new business, product, service, or solution for a chance to win BIG!

You can attend as a contestant or an attendee.

Contestants: Open to entrepreneurs, innovators, and dreamers who want to share any business idea for a chance to win $500! Rules - You have 60 seconds to pitch your idea, no more. No slides. No notes. Only one contestant can speak per pitch. Only one pitch per contestant. Deadline to register as a contestant is Wednesday, October 23 at noon.

Attendees: Open to anyone! Bring your co-founders, friends, family, fiancé – anyone! Just have them sign up as an audience member! (Attendees vote for the $500 People’s Choice Prize).

There will be two winners. The audience will select the People’s Choice. The Judges will select the Judges’ Choice. Each winner will receive a $500 check.

Makerspace Recycle Day!

Come by UCA’s Makerspace on November 15 to repair your (currently) unusable goods. Jason, and our Makerspace staff will be on site to help you troubleshoot your repair. If we can’t help you fix it, you can leave it with us and it will be recycled. November 15 is National Recycling Day. Millions of people across the United States take part in Recycling Day, a day which was created to raise awareness about recycling and the purchasing of recycled products. Let’s make an impact together this November 15 for National Recycling Day.

Walk-in’s welcome. The Makerspace will be open for repair and recycling from 8:30 am - 5:30 pm.

Come join the Conductor in giving back to the communtiy! Bring your plastic grocery bags and learn to weave them into mats. The mats will be donated to local organizations that help serve the homeless. Mats are one of the most requested items and will be a great gift to those in need! Get in the holiday spirit and give back!

Use your imagination, ingenuity, design and building skills to fashion almost anything out of cardboard from a wearable shark costume to a piece of furniture or even a mechanical arm. Families work together to learn how to use specialized cardboard tools to design,engineer and build a cardboard creation.

Catamaran Can: Family Challenge!

S.O.S. Can you keep cargo afloat on a boat made from recyclables? Families will engage in a science STEM challenge where they design, build and test the buoyancy of a self created catamaran all while staying within the restrictions of a supply budget. Participants will bring canned food (cargo) to use during the testing phase of their boat. The food will be donated to a local charity after the event.
