Fidget spinners! You’ve seen them everywhere, the supermarket, gas stations, and more. Wouldn’t it be better to make your own? It’s free here at the UCA Makerspace! Come join us and make your own on a 3D Printer! You’ll learn how to draw in Tinkercad, how spinners are made, and how 3D Printers work!
Takeway: Each person will get to take a fidget spinner home with them!
Ages: 8-16 years old
Duration: 3 hours
10:00 – Arrive at the Makerspace, mingle and have a look around
10:15 – We will demonstrate fidget spinners and talk about how they are made
10:30 – We will demonstrate TinkerCad. And also demonstrate how to open the model, modify the existing model, and how to save a file to print
11:15 – Learn how the 3D printer works, and submit your print!
11:30 – Take a break and grab some lunch (We have great food on both sides of the Makerspace)
- o Uncle T’s has sandwiches and drinks
- o Mosiaque has Burgers and Soup
12:30 – Come back and pick up your spinner off of the printer
12:45 – Install your 608 bearing in your spinner, and assemble
1:00 – Class dismissed
